A 37-year-old Colorado Springs-area woman is being accused of sexual assault on a minor in 2008.
This charge comes after she was first arrested occurred in September on charges of sexting a 14-year-old student within the Ellicott School District, outside of Colorado Springs, where she used to be the district treasurer and board member.
According to police, the 14-year-old was a friend of her son. The texts were reportedly discovered by the teen’s sister. Texts allegedly included suggestive and explicit messages.
The new charge arose during the sexting investigation. Now a 17-year-old claims he had sex on at least five separate occasions with the woman in the summer months of 2008 and throughout his senior year of high school.
According to the teen, his father was a single parent. The suspect reportedly helped take care of the teen and his younger brother.
The boy also spent time at her house, later purportedly spending the night after babysitting her children.
In addition, the affidavit states the suspect allegedly performed oral sex on him before they had sexual intercourse, and the teen reported receiving multiple pictures and text messages of an explicit nature during those months of contact. The pair also allegedly had sex in the woman’s car and within a child’s “playhouse” located in her home.
The suspect is charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
She faces not only the possible end to her career, but also the potential for years of incarceration. In these kinds of cases, it’s always best for the suspect to talk to a criminal defense attorney before discussing details or charges with prosecutors.
